There are a million reasons why I love living in the Bend area here in Oregon. Central Oregon is a super underrated place to live and to visit. When Michael and Joceline planned a vacation here all the way from Texas, they wanted to go to Smith Rock State Park, and decided to have a couples photoshoot to document their love and an amazing trip to the Pacific Northwest.
I have to let Joceline and Michael tell you about themselves in their own words. I couldn’t do their story justice! Here’s what Joceline told me when she reached out to plan their couples photoshoot:
“We met in February 2020 and just clicked. We dated for about 6 months but broke up due to him having to travel out of the country for work. In 2020-2021, we both lost a family member, and then Covid hit. We still kept in contact to check on one another through all this. It took us both a whole year to mature and to overcome the distance. We’ve both watched each other struggle through the lowest part of our lives. Now we are stronger than ever! We remind each other everyday that our lives matter because we have family to live for. We are truly meant for one another.”
Overcoming these odds is such a testament to the love these two have, and knowing their story made me even more honored to be documenting this season of their lives for them.
Some Tips for a Couples Photoshoot
There are so many things that make a couples photoshoot great. My number one piece of advice is that you don’t need a special reason like an engagement to have photos taken of you and your partner! Michael and Joceline were in the area for a vacation. Anything like an anniversary, new job, date night, housewarming, etc., are all perfect reasons to have your pictures taken by a professional!
Another piece of advice I have is to come as you are. Michael is a through and through Texas man, and Joceline describes herself as western-chic. They both chose outfits that they felt comfortable in, and that helps you to feel at ease while you’re having your picture taken. When you show up looking and feeling your best, it really shines through in the pictures!
Lastly, I recommend gorgeous locations like this one for a couples photoshoot. Sometimes the weather can be tricky to work around, but a setting like Smith Rock State Park is going to make the best backdrop for your session. Michael and Joceline had never been here before, and I was able to capture them exploring and experiencing this new place together. It makes a perfect date night with the added bonus of having someone document it for you!
