Sarah & Joel’s Urban Boise Elopement

Real-life couple Joel and Sarah modeled for this gorgeous styled Boise elopement last summer as part of a photography workshop! Workshops are an amazing way for me to continue practicing, stretch my creativity, and meet other talented people! For this shoot, Sarah and Joel had a modern, urban-style elopement on a warm July day here in Boise, Idaho. 

The Couple

Just because this elopement was a styled shoot doesn’t mean it didn’t have meaning for this sweet couple! Sarah and Joel met as students at Boise State University, where Joel was on the football team during his undergrad years. Boise has played a huge part in their relationship, so holding this shoot in downtown Boise was fun for me as a photographer. And, it allowed the two of them to reminisce on their journey. 

Styling a Boise Elopement

This workshop was focused more on the captured moments between the couple than on any other details! But, it still serves as amazing elopement inspiration. Without any added vendor details like flowers or a reception, the focus truly was just on walking through the love journey Sarah and Joel have together. Their attire was simple, perfect for the heat of a summer day. 

As you plan your own Boise elopement, remember that nothing about it has to look traditional! Even though this shoot was styled, and no real vows were exchanged, you can take a page from Sarah and Joel for your own ceremony. If the hectic planning of a celebration really doesn’t feel like it matches you and your partner, forget about it! Without added decor, or a party, or even a walk down a makeshift “aisle,” your elopement can focus on what matters the most. You and your partner! All you really need in the end is each other, a place that means something special to you, and your vows to exchange.
